Ambrosial Kitchen
Ambrosial Kitchen is a cafe in Reykjavik, Iceland which provides high quality lunch time buffet food (known as hlaðborð in Icelandic). Whilst mainly servicing business professionals who operate from the surrounding business district, they also welcome locals and tourists alike, to visit them during their trading hours, as well as offering takeaway options and catering.
Originally trading with the cafe brand name “Glenn’s Kitchen” in 2021 from Katrinatun, Reykjavik, we were pleased to work with the owner and head chef Glenn Moyle to come up with a new cafe brand name and roll out his cafe brand, cafe brand style guide and cafe website.
Glenn was seeking a new cafe brand name to reflects his company’s growth to becoming a multi-venue business in Reykjavik as he was about to open another venue in Dalvegur.
After much workshopping we settled on the name Ambrosial Kitchen, which means “exceptionally pleasing to taste or smell; especially delicious or fragrant,” and “worthy of the gods; divine”. Brosa in Icelandic also means “to smile” so we thought this was the perfect name to convey Glenn’s plans to offer incredible food, with a smile.
A colourful palette of teal, navy and a coral pink was selected, and a bowl icon was rolled out as part of the brand and design elements. Some Nordic/Icelandic looking fonts were also selected as part of the brand development.
With a team of global chefs, Ambrosial Kitchen offers world cuisine, comfort/soul food, and a combination of new and old, local and foreign cuisines with honest flavours. Using only the freshest ingredients and priding themselves on presentation, the new venue at Dalvegur is already hugely popular and proudly adorned with the brand we developed for them all the way from the other side of the world, and a simple but effective mobile responsive website created on Wix which keeps bringing in new enquiries and clients.
