5 Tips To Make Your Social Media Stand Out in 2024!

Wondering how to stay abreast of the latest social media trends across all the social media platforms so you can stand out in 2024?

Let’s face it, the world of social media is ever-evolving. What was trending one week is considered old news the next.

When it comes to keeping ahead of the curve with your social media, it can be hard to stay on top of all of these rapid changes, so we thought we’d share our five top tips to help

make your social media stand out in 2024 so you don’t have to go searching!

Tip 1: Dominate With Video Content

Creating video content for your social media platforms is essential to dominate on social media these days.  It’s not a social media trend which will be short lived – it is absolutely here to stay. So whether you are creating TikToks, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts, or video content for stories or ads, the bottom line is, you must create video content and regularly!

Though it can be hard to make the adjustment to regularly producing video content, once you get a roll on you’ll discover videos are a chance to capture short and catchy content that provides an engaging insight into your business and that this content is likely to perform better than any of your other content by far.

Whether it’s behind the scenes, tutorials, product demos, or one-on-one chats with viewers, video content general has the highest engagement rates, and the highest conversion rates so is well worth doing.

Video content doesn’t have to be professionally shot. Sometimes just sitting in front of the camera with some good light and using a filter if you’ve not had a chance to groom to your usual levels will do the trick!  Another good trick is simply filming a sunset, or you working, and popping some words over the top or in the caption. It’s video content and be shot so simply!

A few more tips for producing video content include:

Create videos for ‘sound off’ i.e. can be enjoyed with or without sound (default is without) but add captions and subtitles to all your ads!

The placement i.e. platform and organic or paid ads will determine the length of the video you produce. We recommend you generally shoot vertical and experiement with 15 sec, 30 sec and 60 sec videos. Or cut a 60 second and then cut it down.

The first 3 seconds of the video are crucial – make sure you get the main point across and/or include the brand or say something controversial i.e. ‘guys you’ll never believe what happened to me on the weekend, I nearly died!’ then go into the video

Creating videos natively in the platform i.e. Reels on Instagram or TikTok videos on Tiktok tend to work better than 3rd party platforms (trust us – we’ve tried!)

Showing some personal aspects of you and your business mixed in with business is also a good idea as it allows your audience the ability to see how your business operates before purchasing your goods or services and keeps customers engaged with your content.

But what if you don’t have a clue how to get started with producing regular video content and need a little help with scripting, captions, editing and more? Get in touch with us today.

Tip 2: Be Responsive and Interactive, Always!

It’s one thing to post regularly on social media with whatever content you choose, but if you are seeking better engagement, be responsive and interactive – always!

This isn’t necessarily a social media trend but if you ask questions in your posts and captions, run polls, or even live Q&A sessions you will cultivate a vibrant online community and that is VALUABLE. Prioritise your audience’s perspectives and integrate them into your daily operations.

Ask your audience what questions they have (or consider what questions you frequently get on email, phone and other channels) and whether the questions are posted in the form of a story, video or photo, this can make your content more relevant and useful.

Tip 3: Consider The Visual Appeal. Image is EVERYTHING

While it’s common knowledge that stripes don’t mix well with spots, the realm of fashion isn’t the only domain governed by rules and themes.  Surprisingly, not everyone realises that establishing social media brand templates and adhering to some general design principles is super important if you want to look professional and stand out in 2024 on social media.

Whether it’s colour schemes, branding, tone, or design, maintaining coherence in these elements is key and consistency across platforms is paramount.

Having consistent design on your social media content not only establishes your brand, it reinforces it ever time you post, and therefore makes it recognisable to your audience, which builds familiarity which builds trust.

If every post is changing fonts and colours just because you can using a tool like Canva, your audience can become disillusioned and stop following you. In short, aesthetics matter.

It can be a good idea to have a professional review your brand style guide then develop a range of social media tile, story and video templates to enhance your page. This may include developing design elements such as backgrounds, buttons and more.

Tip 4: Create Personalised And Authentic Content

Content needs a heart, a soul and a personality. Make it original, speaking to the core of your business, and your audience will thank you.

How was your business started? What makes it different? What sets you apart from competitors? Why should people work with you? Getting clear on your brand positioning by developing a brand strategy, marketing strategy or simply some key brand messages and USPs (unique sales propositions) and reinforcing them through your social media content on a regular basis will help you audience get to know who you really are, and what you stand for, and if this resonates, become more likely to work with you.

If you don’t know where to start, sourcing some video testimonials or user-generated content from your clients can be a great way to cut to the essence of what makes you special. And once you have that bottled up, share it with the world?

Tip 5: Make Your Social Media Relevant

No matter what the latest social media trends are, you want to give some strong thought always to both why are you posting and what you are posting?

Is it relevant to your audience’s interests, needs, and preferences? Are you posting at a time they are likely to see it? Are you using images or video clips of people who look like them and that they can relate to? If not, work on this!

When your posts are relevant to your audience, they are more likely to engage with your content by liking, commenting, sharing, or clicking through to your website.

Relevant social media posts can drive traffic to your website, blog, or online store, ultimately leading to conversions and sales.

If your posts are not relevant you will not connect with your desired audience, and lose attention.

Think of it simply. If you’re a law firm, you probably shouldn’t be posting the best quick dinner recipes. You need to stay relevant to your business purpose.
