Whilst most people think ‘doing social media’ is all about posting on your feed or creating stories, doing social media outreach to connect with and message people via groups or direct on their profiles in an authentic and relevant way can help your brand, business or event hugely. And it doesn’t require any advertising budget – just your time (which in our experience most businesses are pretty short on!)
In case you hadn’t heard, posting on social media business pages is still worthwhile, but it is becoming increasingly harder to achieve results unless you have a decent advertising budget allocated, are consistent with your posting, and really know what you’re doing in terms of producing quality content.
Where we are now often seeing the best results in social media for our clients, is via Social Media Outreach.
So how do you Social Media Outreach?
In short, social media outreach means different things on different platforms.
For instance on Facebook we will likely use your profile or your business page where possible to post in groups.
On Instagram we will likely use your page to post like, follow and comment on other relevant profiles and pages.
On Linkedin we will definitely use your profile, sign up for a Linkedin Business account and then seek to connect with and message relevant people with your pre-approved key messages.
Our Social Media Outreach packages can only be used in combination with our other social media posting + advertising packages, excepting Linkedin, which you can engage us for as a standalone service.
LINKEDIN OUTREACH Packages
Need to get in contact with business professionals in your industry or location? Seeking business partners or investors? Promote your upcoming event to potential sponsors, attendees or speakers? Having someone activate your Linkedin profile by seeking to connect with relevant people and sending them a relevant message thereafter can help you achieve all of these things. And, we can do it on your behalf!

CASE STUDY: Locate CONFERENCEs LINKEDIN OUTREACH 2020 – 2021
Before Locate Conferences came into existence in 2014, there were multiple annual spatial national conferences. Since the unification and creation of Locate Conferences, each year the annual Locate conference has been able to achieve greater overall attendance, embrace the needs of delegates by offering professional and business development workshops, address policy issues for government, across multiple industry sectors and, of course, amplify networking opportunities.
The 2020 Locate Conference was due to be held in Brisbane at the end of May 2020 and The Creative Collective had been working with Alicia Smith (Conference Organiser) and various Locate Board members. As part of our services we completed LinkedIn outreach which involved using chairman Paul Reed’s LinkedIn profile and connecting with relevant users to tell them about the conference.
Due to COVID-19, the difficult decision was made to postpone the 2020 event until March 2021. In May 2020 we helped Locate pivot to take the conference program online to deliver value for the 200 people who have already purchased Locate20 tickets.
We offered a diverse range of services to promote the online program, including conducting outreach on LinkedIn and Facebook. This involved seeking to join relevant groups and posting in them to build awareness of the online program, conference and other various initiatives.
The online conference program was a great success with attendees finding great value and targets being achieved.
In 2021, Locate Conferences launched Locate21, a hybrid model conference that combines virtual and in-person events from March 29th – April 1st 2021. As part of our marketing services for Locate21, we have implemented LinkedIn outreach involving:
Messaging LinkedIn users that had said ‘Going’ to the event online but had not purchased a ticket yet.
Creating new connections for chairman Paul Reed and then inviting these new connections to the conference.
Contacting existing connections and Locate page followers to provide information about the conference
Seeking and engaging in relevant surveying and geospatial interest groups to build awareness of the conference and other various initiatives.
So far, we have seen wonderful results for Locate21 and are keen to see the event able to thrive under such tricky circumstances. Come back shortly to view the latest results that we were able to achieve on behalf of Locate Conferences in 2021.
CASE STUDY: FEARLESS CONFERENCE LINKEDIN OUTREACH
It is estimated that there are upwards of 1 million Australians suffering from PTSD a condition that medical practitioners and clinicians now recognise as the result of injury to the brain caused by exposure to violence, trauma and shock. And there are upwards to three million family members who live with people experiencing Post Traumatic Stress on a daily basis.
For the first time ever a national conference on PTSD was held on the Sunshine Coast from August 21-23 2019.
As the organisation needed to connect with a wide range of target markets to promote the event and engage with potential sponsors, attendees and speakers and was starting with a very small database and online community, we recommended the client invest in Linkedin Outreach.
The job involved gaining access to the CEO’s Linkedin Profile, upgrading it to a business account (for a fee of around $49AUD/month), creating a draft cover note to reach out to potentially relevant Linkedin contacts and then a further pre-approved introductory cover note outlining the conference and all the opportunities contained within.
The result was that over a 6 month period we grew the CEO’s Linkedin connections from 225 connections to over 650 relevant business connections and a 60% conversion rate from seeking to connect to those that connected. A wide range of conversations resulted, with the CEO engaging with those expressing interest in speaking, attending or sponsoring.
In our debrief chats the CEO confirmed that the Linkedin Outreach strategy had played an integral role in building awareness of the conference, and is very happy that he will continue to remain in contact with these valuable connections via Linkedin into the future, which will greatly benefit their not for profit organisation.
CASE STUDY: HEMMANT’S LIST LINKEDIN OUTREACH
Hemmant’s List is a diverse List of Barristers drawn from some of Brisbane’s leading Chambers, providing choice of experience, expertise, practice area specialty, gender and cost through the single contact point. Collectively, the quality, diversity of experience and reputation of members is unparalleled in Queensland.
In late 2020, we were approached by Hemmant’s List to provide social media management, marketing strategy sessions and social media outreach for the organisation.
Outreach on LinkedIn involved:
Seeking relevant interest groups, gaining access and then engaging with content where appropriate on behalf of Hemmant’s List Clerk, Michael Drummond.
Ensuring all Hemmant’s List members are connected to the List Clerk, are following the LinkedIn page and have the page linked to their individual profiles
Inviting current connections to like and follow page updates
Creating new connections that can be leveraged for further outreach opportunities
In only a few months, we have already seen some amazing results in LinkedIn outreach.
In December 2020 and January 2021, we received a follow back rate of 47% and 44% respectively. This is an incredible result to receive after only a matter of months!
FACEBOOK OUTREACH PACKAGES
Whilst most people think being active on social media for business is all about posting on your business page, using your personal profile or business page (where possible) to seek out relevant Facebook groups, seeking to join them, and then getting active in an authentic and relevant way can help you connect with the right people in a much more personal way. And it doesn’t require any advertising budget – just your time (which in our experience most businesses are pretty short on!)

CASE STUDY: Platinum dENTAL INSTAGRAM OUTREACH
Dr Victoria Lane, an experienced general and cosmetic dentist purchased her own dental practice, Platinum Dental, which was refurbed and relaunched. Along with her husband Gareth Morgan the couple approached us with an established brand and website seeking advice on how to build brand awareness and get their initial client database.
A range of initial services were suggested including Google Ads, social media posting on their Facebook, Instagram and Google My Business, Facebook Ads, flourishing their Google My Business page, sourcing regular reviews and submitting the business to multiple map and directory listings.
Since then, we have extended our services to include chatbot campaigns, SEO, video and photo shoots, a website refresh as well as Instagram outreach.
The key objective of the Instagram outreach was to foster a sense of community, grow their audience and improve brand awareness.
