RAA Travel, a subsidiary of the Royal Automobile Association (RAA) in South Australia, is an ATAS-accredited travel service provider. Much like RACQ Travel in Queensland, RAA Travel offers a comprehensive range of services, including accommodation bookings, holiday packages, car hire, travel insurance, cruises, and flights. Their goal is to be a one-stop shop for all their customers’ holiday needs, providing seamless and efficient travel solutions.


RAA Travel sought to enhance their service offerings by developing a robust e-commerce travel platform. This platform aimed to streamline the booking process, integrate various travel services, and offer a user-friendly experience to customers. As they embarked on this ambitious project, RAA Travel needed expert guidance to ensure the platform’s design and functionality would meet industry standards and customer expectations.


RAA Travel engaged our consultancy services to provide strategic advice and support during the development of their e-commerce travel platform. Our collaboration involved several key activities:

  1. Strategic Guidance: We provided strategic advice to RAA Travel’s internal team, which included designers, content producers, managers, and other stakeholders. Our guidance was aimed at helping them create effective wireframes and prototypes for the new platform.
  2. Wireframe and Prototype Review: We conducted a thorough review of the wireframes and prototypes developed by RAA Travel’s team. This involved assessing the usability, functionality, and overall design of the planned bookings platform to ensure it aligned with industry best practices.
  3. Feedback and Iteration Process: The engagement included three feedback rounds. For each iteration, RAA Travel prepared a draft of the platform, which we meticulously reviewed. We provided detailed feedback during live consultative meetings attended by all key stakeholders. These meetings were instrumental in discussing our insights, sharing industry examples, and suggesting necessary changes to enhance the platform.
  4. Best Practice Insights: During the live consultative meetings, we shared examples and insights from the travel and tourism industry. This included highlighting best practices in e-commerce travel platforms, user experience design, and integration of travel services. Our goal was to ensure that RAA Travel’s platform would not only meet current standards but also set a benchmark for excellence in the industry.
