Tucked behind Sunshine Coast darling, Noosa, the Mary Valley is defined by the tourist railway between Monkland (Gympie) and Imbil, but its watershed is much more extensive. So, too, is the downstream section of the Mary River from Gympie to Maryborough.
It is punctuated by misty hills, rolling valleys, charming towns, and infectiously unaffected characters at every turn. Not forgetting, the rare opportunity to kayak with platypus; the chance to meet the makers, producers and artists at work, and have an authentic country experience. You will find local markets, food producers, cafes serving delicious, fresh, local produce and picturesque winding roads along the Mary Valley tourist drive. The Mary Valley is sprinkled with B&Bs, country cottages, farm stays and health retreats, while Gympie also has motels and country pub accommodation.
Pan for gold along the Mary River – it’s great fun for the kids. Kayak on tranquil waterways or venture on to forest trails. Go horse riding or mountain biking through mountain and bush trails, and ride the new Mary Valley Rail Trail.
We were pleased to work with the Mary Valley region on their local business directory design and print for three years in a row, which included meeting stakeholders in the region in person to kick off the project to win trust (important in the country we know!), and then to liaise with x1 key stakeholder in receipting all key information.
As there was no existing brand style, we established the colour scheme and font selections in line with the earthy, green environment that the Mary Valley region is.
We then prepared this 36-page business directory design and arranged for it to be printed on soy-based inks on paper which was made from 50% recycled office waste and 50% sustainable plantation wood fibre, at a time when eco-friendly print was very new.
The client and stakeholders were delighted with the outcome, which became a ‘long life’ publication available at many key locations around the region.
