Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast is about to get a brand new smart city, and a cul-de-sac on the peripheral — Norval Court — is fast becoming a hot bed of creative businesses hoping to capitalise on their impending proximity to the city centre. This week on Saturday 25 October, a creative hub will officially launch at 2/7 Norval Court encompassing a photography studio, a café, a beauty & make up salon, and fashion boutique.
Young entrepreneur Traci Castle, founder and owner of Studio Republic, one of Australia’s leading portraiture studios is the driving force behind the concept. Previously trading from the industrial areas in Warana, with business booming, Traci was seeking a larger venue that could accommodate a larger vision — a creative work space that could blend together her main passions in life — image, style and taste.
Taking over the building towards the end of 2013, the development of the hub has been several months in the making, and is now home to The Art of Bean – a coffee lounge offering premium coffee, free wifi & numerous charging stations for mobile workers, flavoursome food, and an art gallery featuring work from local artists for sale; On Trend who offer quality beauty and makeup services, makeup products and hair styling for special occasions using natural and organic ingredients; Three Words Styling a fashion boutique offering men and women a variety of edgy on trend street fashion and accessories and styling sessions; and of course Studio Republic, who shoot up to date, high fashion, for everyone from couples to families, pets to covers of popular magazines.
The entire concept is unique in that all four creative businesses, work harmoniously under the one roof, which encompasses 420sqm of floor space in an upstairs, and downstairs flow. Many locals will remember the location being Maze Mania, an indoor kids playground that was completely gutted in the process of building the new creative space.
“I wanted to create a space in which all creative fields could come together to work, and collaborate, hang out, shop, be pampered or meet a friend for coffee,” says Castle.
“It may not be on a main through fare, but we hope that if we give people a good experience, it will become a real destination for visitors to the Coast, and a regular hangout for locals.”
The launch event of the creative Hub will take place from 6pm — 11pm on Saturday 25 October at
2/7 Norval Court, Maroochydore, QLD 4558.
The event will feature a fashion show with fashion supplied by Three Words Styling, hair & make-up by On Trend and photography by Studio Republic, a photo booth – supplied by Studio Republic, cocktail food – supplied by the Art of Bean, art work showcased by local artist Gerrard King, auctions and goodie bags to take home. A limited number of public tickets are available from https://studiorepublic.com.au/thelaunch.
