The process of getting a website up
The process of getting a website up and running with the Creative Collective occurs in just eight easy steps:
1. Select and Register a Domain Name (also known as a URL or web address)
You can do this right now at a nominal cost on our online domain shop or we can do this for you saving you the time and headache of knowing how to do it!) There are a number of legal issues and other things to consider when purchasing a domain name such as how to get a name that will maximize traffic to your site.
Read this important article about intellectual property and the order you should do things in when it comes to registering business names and domain names here.
2. Sign off on the quote
And return it to us. No work will begin until we have received written confirmation from you that you wish to proceed.
3. Choose a design
Within the document are a range of templates which will save you time and money in the design process. Simply select one you like, provide feedback on any changes to colours or design you require, give us a clear brief on functionality you require, and give an indication of any other sites we can look to for an indication of what you are after design wise so we can get your site looking just how you want it.
4. Build content
You can do this of your own accord (our systems allow anyone with basic Microsoft Word skills to manage their own sites by adding words, images and documents), or we can do this for you at an hourly rate. Some of our clients also choose to get us to edit their text once they have added it. You will need to decide whether you will take responsibility for all of this or action for us to do all or part of it on your behalf.
5. Set Up Communications
A number of e-mail addresses are included in our service. We will provide you with assistance in setting up your @yourURL.com.au emails for incoming and outgoing mail so customers can contact you directly and you have a professional front with your@yourURL.com.au email address.
6. Optimise your website
Simply placing a site online in today’s highly competitive web environment with no site optimisation in place is like opening a shop with no signage and no promotions. The process of making your site visible to spiders and search engines is called search engine optimization, or simply SEO. Although it is optional to engage in a site optimization exercise, we highly recommend it, as detailed within the proposal attached.
7. Promote Your Web Site
Once your site is optimised, you also need to pro-actively promote your website and we recommend a combination of online and offline marketing strategies, as we will outline to you in a proposal.
8. Analyse the website’s performance
An online business isn't a fire-and-forget venture. The information on your site must be current, correct and reliable. It will be important to analyze your traffic.
Where are your visitors coming from? How many visitors are you getting? What pages on your site are most popular? Our system comes with an in-built statistical system which you can look up any time. Some of our clients take responsibility for analyzing this data themselves while others contract us to report on a regular basis (usually quarterly) on how the site is performing and what can be done to improve it.
On top of the sites in built statistical data, we also employ a range of other strategies to analyse your sites performance on the world wide web.
