The Creative Collective recognised with a ‘highly commended' at national marketing awards

Yvette Adams, owner and director of local creative services agency The Creative Collective was recognised at the Marketing and Communications Executives International Awards held in Melbourne last Thursday with a ‘highly commended' in the home based business category.

Adams says the evening was thoroughly enjoyable and that she thought it was great to be recognised in an industry award.

“Given how relatively new our field is, there is not always an obvious category for us to enter at business awards however this was a great awards as it was an opportunity to go up against, and network, with ‘like minds'.”

It was a busy weekend for Adams who also attended the Australian Small Business Champions Awards in Sydney.

She now has only 9 days until she departs to compete at the international women's awards, The Stevie Awards in New York where she is a finalist in the Best Asian Entrepreneur category. The Stevie Awards winners will be announced on November 14 at an awards dinner in New York.

After her whirlwind trip, Yvette will step off the plane on the morning of Wednesday 19 November and host the second in her series of Web Wednesday events at the Mooloolaba surf club that evening.

“This time we're excited to be introducing Leah Squire of BYOkids.com.au, a Sunshine Coast woman who has based her entire business on an innovative and emerging marketing strategy we love, affiliate marketing. She's also a busy mother of two boys and has found affiliate marketing and an online business that offers her the ultimate lifestyle which in her case involves plenty of travel,” says Adams.

Leah is a Sunshine Coast local and highly successful business woman having won a stack of business awards including best "new business" in 2007 in the Small business Champions Awards Australia and the Cool Company "Micro Business" Award in 2008.

“At our next Web Wednesday she will share in a 20 minute powerful 'download' presentation on how to set up as a merchant i.e. someone who promotes your product, service or company via an affiliate network where literally thousands of professional affiliate marketers can see your ads and choose to place them on their high traffic sites with no money exchanged unless they get results for you!

“Affiliate marketing has taken America and Europe by storm but in Australia it is still a relatively little known marketing strategy. However it is growing fast and local businesses need to find out what it is and get cracking with it asap. Already some of the major brands such as Rebel Sport, Flight Centre and ANZ are in there having a go. We've certainly been approached by some other major household names asking us what it is all about and how they can get into it. We can't wait to share what we know with local businesses.”

The Web Wednesday event will take place on Wednesday 19 November, 5:30pm for a 6pm start, Mooloolaba Surf Club, Mooloolaba Esplanade. Bookings are essential and can be made online prior to the event here.
